Despite its long-standing reputation, Bottelsen faced financial difficulties and filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on November 1, 2023, in the Central District of California bankruptcy court under case number 9:23-bk-11019. The bankruptcy petition listed assets and liabilities each in the range of $100,001 to $1,000,000, with the number of creditors between 1 and 49. The initial meeting of creditors took place on December 14, 2023, and the deadline for filing claims was set for January 10, 2024.
